Year 10 in Sevens Heaven!
The Year 10 rugby squad got their season off in style at the inaugural 7s blitz at Ballyclare RFC. The whole squad were able to travel and had the opportunituy to participate in this fast paced and skilful version of the game. The mix of strong carrying, slick off-loading and pace out wide meant that the boys carried a threat in all aspects of the game and proved too strong for Larne High School, Bangor Academy and Strangford College sides.
Our last game was against the other undefeated side in the group - Priory College. Priory stormed into an early 3 try lead before the Model decided a hard tackling and fierce rucking game plan was required to get them back into the game. Having got a try back, the Model boys kept pressing more points, but met a resolute Priory defence and ultimately fell short.
The whole team deserves praise for their positive attitude and determination and all could get a mention for the positive and significant contributions they made. It was great to see Riley Morrison back and in fine try scoring form alongside fellow winger Logan Sloan.
Model Man of the Match could have gone to a number of players for a variety of reasons from the flying wings, the quick thinking halfbacks, to the bomb squad forwards, but that little bit of extra class on the day the accolade goes to Logan Sloan.
